Grampound with Creed Carnival is held every year on the first Saturday of September.

A fete is held in the afternoon on the recreation ground and in the village hall, both situated behind the primary school on Fore Street.

At 6 p.m. the main road is closed to allow the carnival procession to move out of the recreation ground and up Fore Street through the village. The road is then re-opened for a short while to allow the traffic queues to clear, then closed again before the procession returns back down Fore Street to the recreation ground. The event is always well attended by those participating in the carnival procession and by those watching. See examples of previous carnivals.

Carnival Day

Saturday 7 September 2024

Car boot and fete open on the recreation ground at 1 p.m.
For sellers, £5 entry fee per car.
For those enjoying the fete, £1 per person entry fee.
All the normal children’s activities are then free.
Bouncy castles, slides, trampolines, fairground rides, Mark’s Ark animals, worm charming, giant lawn games.

Carnival entries to be registered by 4.30 p.m. at latest, preferably earlier. Register when you arrive or you can pre-book online. Entries free.
Judging of carnival entries at 5 p.m.

Procession leaves the recreation ground at 6 p.m.

Prizes and trophies awarded immediately after the procession returns to the recreation ground, approx. 7.15 p.m.

Live music in the hall in the evening including soul band, Still Dizzy.
Bar, of course!

Monthly coffee mornings: fundraising throughout the year for the Carnival

Coffee and-cake


Coffee mornings are held on the last Saturday of each month in the village hall from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Dates for 2024:
Saturday 27 January, 24 February, 30 March, 27 April, 25 May, 29 June, 27 July, 31 August, 28 September, 26 October, 30 November (Christmas market)

Cakes, tea and coffee are available, all proceeds go to carnival funds. Plus a 50/50 raffle.

Come along with your friends, or come on your own and join other village residents and catch up on what is happening with the carnival and other goings-on in the village.
